This page details the locations of every single Chalice of Souls in the game, as well as how many enemies you need to kill to collect them! The only levels without a Chalice are Dan's Crypt and Zarok's Lair. Collecting all of these will reward you with the King of Cups Trophy.

To collect the Chalice in a level, you must first kill the required number of enemies in that level to turn it solid, then go to its location and pick it up before going through the level's exit.

Chalices are important for two reasons. One: they allow Dan entry into the Hall of Heroes so he can pick up new Weapons and items, and second, collecting all 20 will unlock the game's True Ending after defeating Zarok!

The Graveyard Chalice

Kills Required: 33

This Chalice is fairly easy to find: at the Angel statue partway through the level that you can rotate by whacking it. You'll have to backtrack to this spot after killing more zombies in later parts of the level.

Cemetery Hill Chalice

Kills Required: 25

To get this Chalice, you'll need to come with a Club. From the level's start, go forwards and then head right through the stone archway. At the end of this area, bash the boulder with your Club and enter the Witch's Cove.

Inside, get into the staircase room and bash the bookcase with the club to access a fire. Hold your Club over the fire to light it, then go into the previous room and through the doorway at the top of the stairs. Light the fire in this new room to open all the gates. In addition to releasing Zombies, you'll also be able to access this Chalice!

The Hilltop Mausoleum Chalice

advertisement

Kills Required: 25

This Chalice is located in the room with Mr. Organ, the piano phantom. To open the door to this Chalice, you'll need to give Mr. Organ his piano music. Grab the Moon Rune in the previous room, then drop down to the underground tunnels and take the right-hand path: grab the Music Sheet, then return to Mr. Organ and select it from your Inventory to reveal the Chalice!

Return to the Graveyard Chalice

Kills Required: 50

You'll encounter this Chalice on your main route through the level: after going through the Skull Gate, grab the Star Rune from atop the hill, then use it on the gate at the bottom of the hill and proceed inside. If you've been killing all the enemies so far, the Headless Zombies will provide enough to activate the Chalice.

Scarecrow Fields Chalice

Kills Required: 20

To get this Chalice, make your way through the level until you get to the farm machine death traps. In the fourth one, make your way out the "10:00" exit and pick up the Harvester Part. Backtrack to the cornfield area and enter the barn. Jump up to the rafters using boxes and lower the Harvester if you haven't already, then select the Harvester Part from your Inventory. Follow the Harvester outside and go down the path it cut through the corn to reach this Chalice!

The kill requirement to activate this Chalice is pretty difficult on PS4, as you'll need to kill all but one Scarecrow in order to qualify for it and they CHEW through your health. Therefore you may want to skip this one until you collect better Weapons and more Life Bottles later in the game.

Pumpkin Gorge Chalice

Kills Required: 50

To find this Chalice, start down the titular gorge but keep an eye on your right for a tunnel you can enter guarded by tentacle roots. Head down it, to a room with a Merchant Gargoyle, then drop down the tunnel next to it to find the Chalice. You'll need to come back later to pick it up after killing more enemies.

The Pumpkin Serpent Chalice

Kills Required: 14

To get this Chalice, you first must defeat the Pumpkin King: this will cause many of the vines throughout the level to recede, including those blocking up a well early in the level. Jump down this well to find the Chalice: on PS4 it's in the waterlogged area, while on PS1 it'll be in the tunnel. PS1 players may need to kill the Pumpkin Plants that continuously spawn around the Pumpkin King's corpse in order to activate the Chalice.

The Sleeping Village Chalice

Kills Required: 8

To find this Chalice, go from the fountain plaza in the middle of town and down to the Mayor's House, the building where you unlocked the safe and got the Shadow Artefact. At the front door, turn right and look for a hole in the wall with the Chalice behind it (PS4 players will need to use a Club or Hammer to bust down a bricked-up portion of the wall first to get here). You'll need to defeat eight Boiler Guards, which requires a few guarding the level exit at the very end of this level.

Asylum Grounds Chalice

Kills Required: 33

This Chalice becomes available once you get to the third riddle about the elephant. From Jack of the Green's location, head back to the Dragon Hedge and take a right; all the way at the end will be the Chalice. You can activate it once you've killed the Mad Monks in the path the elephant opens up behind it when you scare it with the rat.

Inside the Asylum Chalice

Kills Required: 50

This Chalice is in the very last room of the level, in the back-right corner. You'll have earnt this one while you were killing your way over here!

The Ant Caves Chalice

The Chalice for this level is unique in that you don't get it for kills like all the others. Instead you must rescue all 7 faeries located throughout the level. On PS4 you can collect the Chalice right after beating the Ant Queen, while on PS1 you'll be taken there after getting the Chicken Drumstick from the Witch of the Forest.

The Enchanted Earth Chalice

advertisement

Kills Required: 8

This Chalice, located in the Shadow Demon tomb, is a trickier than you might expect. The required kill count is 8, however none of the local wildlife will actually release souls for the Chalice: only the Shadow Demons will. Because of this, you cannot get this Chalice until you get the Shadow Artefact from The Sleeping Village.

Pools of the Ancient Dead Chalice

Kills Required: 50

This Chalice is quite easy to locate: when you get to the main mud marshes area, go right and you'll see it in plain sight.

The Lake Chalice

Kills Required: 25

This Chalice is located at the end of the lake tunnel, accessed by freezing the whirlpool with the Runes and then jumping down. You won't be able to collect it when you first enter; you'll have to return to it later after killing about 25 enemies.

The Crystal Caves Chalice

advertisement

Kills Required: 50

This Chalice can be found right in the first room of the level, on the left path in the open crystal room. It'll be filled later on: PS4 players will fill it after passing by the Mean Old Dragon's room, while PS1 players will need to kill every enemy in the level, including those in front of the level exit!

The Gallows Gauntlet Chalice

Kills Required: 33

To find this Chalice, get to the fake level exit and go through the archway to the Dragon Gate, then go left: keep an eye on the left-hand side to find the Chalice behind a gate.

Getting it requires you to go through the Dragon Gate with the Dragon Armour and press the upper-right button to open a gate near the start of the level. Press that button to reveal the Chalice. You'll also need to grab the Star Rune so you can kill the enemies at the end of the level and turn the Chalice solid.

The Haunted Ruins Chalice

Kills Required: 15

This Chalice can be found in the inner area of the castle. From the area where the prisoners were imprisoned, head left through the gate and then up the ramp, then go left along the ramparts. You can't collect this Chalice until during your escape when you've killed 15 enemies (a thin margin), so don't forget it!)

The Ghost Ship Chalice

Kills Required: 6

To find this Chalice, get to the spot near the end of the level with the rotating spatula-like platforms. Jump off the left side into the cage to be taken up into the air, then go left.

The Kills Required count is decieving: you must kill all 6 Pirate Officers on the Ghost Ship, as they're the only enemies that release souls!

The Entrance Hall Chalice

Kills Required: 20

This Chalice is simple to find: head forward from the start until you get to the hallway intersection, then take the right path all the way down to Zarok's spellbook chamber from the intro, with this Chalice in the middle. You'll have to kill almost every Imp in the level to activate this Chalice!

The Time Device Chalice

Kills Required: 33

This Chalice is located in the area with the big Red Lightning Power Crystal, which you have to destroy in order to finish the level. To destroy the Power Crystal, whack the skull on the nearby tombstone to disable the Red Lightning, then hit the two diodes closes to the tombstone so that the Red Lightning flows in a loop (as shown in the picture above). This will destroy the Power Crystal and reveal the Chalice.

The trick is that you won't kill enough enemies to grab it until near the end of the level at the Train Station section, so don't forget to go back for it!
